Harris slams Donald Trump and Elon Musk at NAACP Image Awards, Internet says ‘sounds like loser talk’

PASADENA, CALIFORNIA: Former vice president Kamala Harris namelessly called out President Donald Trump and his close ally, tech billionaire Elon Musk, as she delivered her acceptance speech after receiving the Chairman’s Award at the 56th NAACP Image Awards on Saturday, February 22, reported Deadline.

Harris received a standing ovation as she took to the stage at the star-studded Pasadena Civic Auditorium in the evening. Her rousing speech, touching upon the country and liberty, suggested that the 60-year-old was far from considering retirement from public life.

Kamala Harris offered a much needed reminder at the NAACP Image Awards tonight “This chapter will be written, not simply by whoever occupies the Oval Office, nor by the wealthiest among us. The American story will be written by you.” Amazing.

As per the publication, Kamala Harris resurrected the theme of ‘We the People’ from her failed presidential campaign in 2024, as she stated on Saturday, “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.”

“This chapter will be written, not simply by whoever occupies the Oval Office, nor by the wealthiest among us,” said Harris, in a thinly veiled jibe at Trump and Musk and continued, “The American story will be written by you, written by us, by We the People.”

Speaking of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), she noted, “This organization came into being at a moment when our country struggled with greed, bitterness and hatred, and those who forged the NAACP, those who carried its legacy forward had no illusions about the forces they were up against, no illusions about how stony the road would be.”

“But some look at this moment and rightly feel the weight of history. Some see the flames on our horizons, the rising waters in our cities, the shadows gathering over our democracy. And ask, what do we do now?” she questioned.

As the audience applauded, Harris continued, “But we know exactly what to do because we have done it before, and we will do it again. We use our power, we organize, mobilize, we educate and we advocate, because you see, our power has never come from having an easy path.”

“Our strength flows from our faith, faith in God, faith in each other and our refusal to surrender to cynicism and destruction, not because it is easy, but because it is necessary, not because victory is guaranteed, but because the fight is worth it,” concluded Harris.
