This notable figure was born on May 23, 1933, in London, England. She is the oldest child of Elsa, a former nightclub hostess, and Joseph, a talent agent.
Elsa, a British native, and her South African husband, Joseph, had two additional children together, Jackie in 1937 and Bill in 1946. The family lived throughout the World War II era.
They took refuge in Tube stations with other London residents fleeing German bombings around the city. This girl remembered those events in May 2020.
She confessed that she was quite little when the war started and that her father had to stay in London to amuse those who remained behind. She added:
“But they kept evacuating me.” We were all over the place.”
Her education suffered as a result of her family’s inability to remain stationary. This entertainment icon acknowledged it was a difficult time for her. However, she and her sibling were lucky to have their mother with them, which made life simpler.
She recalled her and her loved ones sleeping underground: “We went to the one at Marble Arch the most.” It was really sociable; folks would play accordions and sing.”

Her father, however, discouraged her from becoming an actor, claiming that by the age of 23, she would be irrelevant to the profession. Evidently, she exceeded everyone’s expectations.
Collins’ love life has not fared well over the years, despite her successful profession. The celebrity was previously engaged to actor Warren Beatty, who was 23 at the time, and she became pregnant with his kid when she was 26.
But he persuaded her to end the pregnancy, warning her that it would harm their jobs. Although she was first skeptical, the now-mother of three subsequently admitted he was correct.
Despite the fact that she and Beatty never married, Collins married four times. Actor Percy Gibson, Collins’ fifth spouse, has been her husband since February 2002.
“Percy is the most honorable man I’ve ever met,” Collins said a month after the pair said their wedding vows. He persuaded her to marry again, despite her initial reluctance.

They met in New York City in 2000 while she was in a play and he was the producer. They started a passionate romance when she was 60 and he was 30. The pair was never troubled by their age gap.
Collins is now 90 years old, and her lifelong spouse, Gibson, is 58. The Peruvian native is 32 years younger than his Golden Globe-winning wife.
